Familiar Design Remains Intact
Recent leaks have unveiled the first official images of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 just ahead of its expected unveiling at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22. According to these images, Samsung continues to embrace the familiar design language seen in previous models. The watch features a round display with a slightly square form factor—characteristics that were first introduced with the Galaxy Watch 8.
It’s clear that Samsung aims to provide consistency in design, as both the overall shape and the placement of sensors on the underside appear largely unchanged. This might disappoint users who were hoping for a revolutionary redesign, as the aesthetic remains deeply rooted in its predecessor.
New Straps and Colors
While the design remains largely the same, there are some exciting updates regarding strap options and color variants. The Galaxy Watch 9 will reportedly be available in sizes of 40mm and 44mm, with color options including Cream, Graphite, and Silver. Each model will be shipped with a silicone strap, but users can also expect a range of alternatives such as hybrid leather, sport, and fabric bands in various colors.
Snapdragon Wear Elite and One UI 9 Watch
On the technical front, the Galaxy Watch 9 is likely to introduce significant hardware upgrades. For the first time, it will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, moving away from Samsung’s Exynos processors. This new chip is expected to bring several AI functionalities to the table, combined with One UI 9 based on Wear OS 7, enhancing the user experience.
Launch Anticipated on July 22
The Galaxy Watch 9 is poised to be pricier than its predecessor, following Samsung’s trend of increasing smart device costs. Rumors suggest that the base model will be priced at €409, a €40 increase from the previous generation. The LTE version may retail for around €459, while the 44mm version is rumored to cost €439 (Bluetooth) and €489 (LTE). Consumers can expect to have clarity on pricing and specifications by the July 22 launch date.
