Franka Potente Announces Split from Derek Richardson

Franka Potente and Derek Richardson have been separated for three years. The actress revealed the end of their relationship in a recent interview. They continue to co-parent their daughters in Los Angeles.

It’s a long-anticipated separation: Franka Potente (51) and Derek Richardson (50) are no longer a couple, having been separated for about three years. However, Potente just recently made this public during an interview with “Die Zeit”.

The split does not appear to be acrimonious. Both parents reportedly maintain a good relationship and share parenting responsibilities for their daughters, Poppy (15) and Georgie (13). The family’s primary residence remains in Los Angeles. Potente did not disclose specific details about the separation; she married her American actor husband in 2012.

Franka Potente: Back to Acting for Her Daughters

In her interview, Potente discussed her professional plans. Originally, she intended to work primarily behind the camera. However, due to her daughters’ education, she has revised her decision. “Public schools aren’t that great, so our kids are attending a private Catholic girls’ school. It was the most affordable option, but I need to find a way to earn money. Thus, I’m returning to acting,” she revealed.

Potente gained international fame in 1998 with the film “Run Lola Run,” which marked her breakthrough. Shortly after, she starred alongside Matt Damon in “The Bourne Identity.” Today, she has mentally moved on from grand ambitions; her aspirations have become more modest, as she expressed. (ae/spot)
