Jimmy Page has explained why he didn’t want to be on Ozzy Osbourne’s new album. The former guitarist for Led Zeppelin is simply busy with his own projects: “There are various things I’m working on,” the 78-year-old told Classic Rock magazine. However, the Englishman held back on details for good reason: “It’s not just one thing, it’s several things and I don’t even want to give a hint, because if you do that … there will be a headline and if it doesn’t then it doesn’t comes about, they say, ‘Why didn’t you do a solo album?'”

Page never wants to “record alone and send someone a file”

Page wants to keep his plans a secret because he doesn’t want people to be able to misinterpret his quotes. Regarding his turning down his guest appearance on Ozbourne’s new full-length, he added: “I’ll never be one of those people who will record alone and send someone a file. I never went into music to do that – it was about playing together.”

The new Osbourne record is already in the hands of his label

Ozzy Osbourne confirmed earlier this week that he has finished the follow-up to his 2020 album Ordinary Man: “I’m so happy to announce that I finished my new album this week and handed it over to my label Epic Records have,” he wrote on Instagram. The Black Sabbath singer also announced that more information about the album will be released in the coming weeks.

The crème de la crème of rock history makes music for Ozzy

In December of last year, Osbourne’s producer and guitarist Andrew Watt announced that the album would also feature the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, along with Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. The latter recently confirmed that Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, Eric Clapton, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready are also on board. According to Chad Smith, Osbourne also tried to get Jimmy Page to work with him, but speculated: “I think he doesn’t play anymore” – a misjudgment based on Page’s new quotes.
