Sony has officially confirmed a marketing collaboration with Rockstar Games for the highly anticipated GTA 6, promoting the PS5 as the platform on which the game will be best experienced. According to the official PlayStation.Blog, players can expect an optimized gaming experience that leverages the console’s unique features.
The Japanese corporation highlights four key features that make the PS5 stand out: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and an ultra-fast SSD that promises “near-instant loading times.” However, the company does not disclose specific targets regarding resolution or frame rate.
GTA 6 on PS5: Comfort Features Over Performance Metrics
As the advertising campaign kicks off, pre-orders for GTA 6 will begin on June 25, with confirmed pricing at $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the ultimate edition. Official pricing in euros is expected to be announced shortly before the release.
GTA 6 on PS5: DualSense, 3D Audio, and SSD
For GTA 6 on the PS5, Sony has outlined four comfort features: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, an integrated controller speaker, and Tempest 3D AudioTech. This “ultra-fast SSD” aims to load the expansive world of the fictional state of Leonida without lengthy wait times. Rockstar Games describes GTA 6 as a “deeply immersive and engaging single-player experience” focusing on protagonists Jason and Lucia, while the separate online mode remains unmentioned in their announcement.
PS5 Pro Enhanced for GTA 6: Confirmation Without Details
The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 with the label “PS5 Pro Enhanced,” but specific technical improvements for the more powerful console are not detailed by Sony. Higher dynamic resolutions, the new in-house AI upscaling known as PSSR Enhanced or PSSR 2.0 based on FSR 4.1, and various enhancements are expected features for the PS5 Pro.
The news about the Pro enhancement first surfaced on the New Zealand pre-order page, where sales had already started due to the time zone difference. What exactly this enhancement entails remains unclear as both Sony and Rockstar have not elaborated. Other optimized titles have utilized the PS5 Pro’s stronger GPU and PSSR upscaling for higher resolutions and improved lighting and frame rates.
Pre-ordering GTA 6: Dates, Editions, and Prices
Pre-orders for GTA 6 will commence at midnight local time on June 25, and the game will officially launch on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Besides the standard version priced at $79.99, Rockstar Games will also offer an Ultimate Edition for $99.99, which includes premium vehicles, weapons, and clothing. Additionally, customers who pre-order before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City package, and every pre-order in the PlayStation Store includes a complimentary month of GTA+.
