Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill are currently enjoying a leisurely summer vacation in St. Tropez on the French Riviera. This year, however, they are not alone.

As temperatures rise, many members of the Swedish royal family regularly flock to the Mediterranean. Princess Madeleine (44) and Chris O’Neill (51) have taken a well-deserved break in the south this summer.

According to a report by “Svensk Damtidning” on June 23, the family has been spotted enjoying leisurely days in St. Tropez. They visited the iconic beach restaurant “Le Club 55,” a longstanding hotspot for international celebrities.

Princess Madeleine’s Friends Join the Vacation

The French Riviera has been a staple summer destination for Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill for years. Last year, the couple also spent time in St. Tropez around this same time, even celebrating Chris’ birthday there.

As reported by “Svensk Damtidning,” the royal family is accompanied this year by close friends Natalie Werner and her husband, Dag Werner. Natalie is a long-time confidante of Princess Madeleine and even serves as the godmother of Princess Adrienne (9).

The bond between the two families goes back many years. Natalie is one of Princess Madeleine’s closest friends, while Dag Werner and Chris O’Neill also share a long history. The two men met through their wives and Dag has helped Chris navigate his early days of adjusting to life in Stockholm.

At the heart of these cherished moments is the deep connection between family and friendship, which adds a special dimension to their summer retreat.

Upcoming Birthday Celebration for Crown Princess Victoria

However, Princess Madeleine’s summer getaway will not last long. On July 14, the Swedish royals will traditionally gather in Öland to celebrate Crown Princess Victoria’s 49th birthday.

The festivities will kick off days earlier with the traditional “Victoria Days,” featuring various sports and family events. Proceeds from these events will benefit the Crown Princess Victoria Fund for children and youth with disabilities. On the birthday itself, the Swedish royal family will convene in front of Solliden Palace for traditional birthday songs and a carriage ride through Borgholm, ending with the Victoria Concert in the Borgholm Castle ruins, where the prestigious Victoria Prize will be awarded to outstanding athletes, and further donations for the fund will be collected.

In attendance will be King Carl Gustaf (80), Queen Silvia (82), and the families of Crown Princess Victoria (58), Prince Carl Philip (47), and Princess Madeleine. Victoria’s children, Estelle (14) and Oscar (10), are also expected to join the celebrations.
