Former US Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan died on Monday at the age of 100. He served as chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006. Greenspan died from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Greenspan died at his home, according to NBC News. He served as Fed chairman under four different U.S. presidents.
Greenspan was appointed chairman of the Fed in 1987 by then President Ronald Reagan and was Paul Volcker’s successor at the central bank in the United States. Greenspan was succeeded at the Fed by Ben Bernanke in 2006.
