Hans Klok does not rule out that Ali B will flee abroad to avoid his prison sentence in our country. He would then have to flee for life. “I think it’s all so stupid,” says the illusionist.
Ali B can flee to avoid his prison sentence, but there is one major problem: the Netherlands has extradition treaties with most countries in the world. He would then have to maneuver for the rest of his life between the few countries where no treaty applies and could never return to the Netherlands.
Flight Ali?
Is it going to happen? Hans Klok does not rule it out, although Ali will no longer be able to see his children grow up in his own country and will have to permanently look over his shoulder. “There are people who say that he might go abroad to get out of it. That could of course also be possible,” he says in the Weekend.
Of course, escape is not freedom, but a different kind of prison. One without walls and without a prospect of an end date. “It’s really bad if you have to grumble for three years, although it will probably be two years after deduction. Ali is now also trying to extend it by appealing to cassation.”
More than right
Hans thinks Ali should be behind bars. “The problem with famous people is that at some point they… bigger than life think they are, and are therefore allowed to do anything. I know Ellen ten Damme quite well and I performed with Jill Helena at The Harbor Club. I believe those women: what do they have to gain from lying about something like that?”
“I don’t think Ali can ever make a comeback. His singing career is over forever, I think that’s a fait accompli. I think it’s so stupid. You often see it with people who become rich and famous. They think they can do more things. So stupid, Ali had a great career, which he has now ruined himself.”
