Annechien Steenhuizen has not been seen on television for a year and a half and it seems that her absence will last even longer. She is replaced at Project Rembrandt by Merel Westrik.
There has been uncertainty about Annechien Steenhuizen’s TV future for a year and a half. She has not been seen on television for some time, but does not want to say publicly what is going on. Private boss Evert Santegoeds says he knows what is going on, but does not want to say because he says it is really terrible.
Horrible
Annechien has asked Evert to keep quiet about it. “It is difficult to say anything about that, because she has asked me to respect that she does not talk about it. We know what is going on, but that is such a strictly private situation that I am not going to burn my fingers about it. I can only wish her a lot of strength.”
His Telegraaf colleague Tina Nijkamp is happy that this remains a secret: “Of course it is horrible. There is no other way, I think so too. I don’t want to talk about that at all. That is up to her.”
Merel replaces
Annechien’s absence will last longer, because broadcaster NTR now announces that its program Project Rembrandt will continue with a new presenter: Merel Westrik. The broadcaster previously also used her to replace the ill Dieuwertje Blok at the Sinterklaas news. She passed away last year.
NTR indicates that recordings with Merel have already started in Italy. “Project Rembrandt was presented by Annechien Steenhuizen for the previous four seasons. She has stopped for the time being due to private circumstances.”
Fifth season
The fifth season of Project Rembrandt will air in 2027. “For this anniversary edition, twelve talents have been chosen from more than 1,000 registrations to compete for the title of ‘best painter in the Netherlands’.”
“All this takes place in the place where it all happened in the seventeenth century, the beating heart of painting: Italy,” the broadcaster concludes.
