Cape Verde still has a view of the next round: just like Uruguay, it has 2 points in group H, where Spain is in the lead thanks to the 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia earlier in the evening. For the first time, Lamine Yamal played in the starting line-up for the Spaniards, alongside striker Mikel Oyarzabal. Oyarzabal was the star in the match with two goals and an assist.
Belgium also took action during the Dutch night. In their second group match, the Belgians were unable to win again, after an earlier draw against Egypt. The score was 0-0 against Iran, which had also drawn in the first match. The Belgians played with ten men for a large part of the match, after a red card for Nathan Ngoy.
The other match in Group G, between New Zealand – Egypt, ended in 1-3 for the Egyptians. Star player Salah was accurate once.
Some title favorites will be in action on Monday. Starting with world champion Argentina, who will face Austria. Vice-world champions France will then play against Iraq. Later in the evening, outsider Norway, including top striker Erling Haaland, will play against Senegal. The evening ends with Jordan playing against Algeria.
