The police are investigating the area around Zilverschoonplein in Bergen op Zoom after a report that shots were heard there on Sunday night. An impact was also discovered in a house.
Officers also found a suspicious package that allegedly consisted of fireworks and flammable substances.
The Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) has been called in to remove the object safely.
Officers have cordoned off the area.
