In the upcoming transfer period, VfB Stuttgart must prepare for the challenges of the Champions League. Yannik Keitel probably still doesn’t play a role in the Swabians’ plans. There is now a clear trend with the midfielder.
As the “kicker” and the “Augsburger Allgemeine” unanimously report, Keitel is in the process of another loan deal with FC Augsburg. The 26-year-old had already spent the second half of the season at FCA, but was hardly able to play there due to injury.
The Fuggerstadt-based company therefore left an agreed purchase option unused. According to “kicker”, Augsburg is still interested in keeping Keitel in the squad for the coming season.
The new loan deal could therefore again include a purchase option worth around 700,000 euros.
Keitel moved from SC Freiburg to Stuttgart in 2024. However, he only played 273 minutes in the Bundesliga for VfB in his first season.
VfB Stuttgart faces drastic changes
In the previous first half of the season he didn’t get a chance at all on the Neckar under Sebastian Hoeneß. In January he was awarded to Augsburg.
Shortly after the end of the season, the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” reported that Keitel was even a candidate for sale in Stuttgart. It was said that if he received a suitable offer, he could leave the club permanently. However, there have been no concrete rumors since then.
Overall, despite the successful previous season, VfB Stuttgart is facing drastic changes this summer. As Alexander Nübel’s loan ends after three years, a new era is beginning with youngster Dennis Seimen in goal.
Midfield conductor Angelo Stiller could also possibly leave the club. At least Real Madrid is said to have recently refrained from making a commitment.
