The first report at the house on Ombilinstraat came in at 5.28 pm this afternoon. It was soon scaled up to a medium fire. The emergency services arrived en masse. A few minutes later the fire was scaled up again, then to a major fire.
Local residents say a bang could have been heard. Images show that the porch of the house is significantly damaged.
What exactly preceded the explosion is being investigated.
