“I was standing in the shower and they were talking about that date on the radio. I thought: that is indeed a nice date. That’s how we chose that date,” says bride Lovely Vermeulen. Groom Mathieu Delrue adds: “for me it is useful to remember the date”.

According to First Alderman Kevin Defieuw, next Friday is also a popular wedding day. “On June 26, another six couples will get married in the municipality. Next year there will be such a special date again, but the fact that it now falls on a Saturday or Friday makes it extra popular.”
Anyone who dreams of a striking wedding date may have to wait a while for a similar occasion.
