The world championship took place last week in the Norwegian capital. 32 players from seven different continents took part in the tournament.

Bronze via losers’ round

Declerck started the tournament with a victory against the Slovenian Slacek, but then lost to the Austrian Fink. He worked his way up again through the losers’ round. Victories against, among others, the Chinese Xin Chen, the Englishman Southern and the Lithuanian Linas Joniskis brought him to the semi-finals.

The Finn Jani Tähti, who later also became world champion, proved too strong with 5-1. Deklerck thus conquers bronze.
