Morocco defeated Scotland 1-0 in the second group match at the World Cup. The only goal came from PSV striker Ismael Saibari, who struck after just two minutes. Thanks to the victory, Morocco, which drew the first match 2-2 against Brazil, takes the lead in Group C. Brazil can still level if it beats Haiti later this night.
The results in group C are important for the Dutch national team: the number 1 from that group plays against the number 2 from the Netherlands group in the next round. If the Netherlands finishes first, they will play against number 2 from group C.
Earlier in the evening, the United States became the second country to qualify for the knockout stages of the World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Australia. The 1-0 came from an own goal by Australian Cameron Burgess, the 2-0 came from Alex Freeman. The Americans had already won 4-1 against Paraguay in their first match.
PSV players Ricardo Pepi and Sergiño Dest played for the Americans, while Feyenoord player Jordan Bos was in the starting line-up for Australia.
