Haiti held tight for the first 20 minutes against dominant Brazilians. Then the first goal is scored and shortly afterwards the game is decided.
The Brazilian national team fulfilled their duty and secured a victory in the second World Cup duel. The “Seleção” won against soccer dwarf Haiti 3-0 (3-0) and was even unlucky that two goals were returned due to offside positions. The former Bundesliga professional Matheus Cunha celebrated a brace (23rd and 36th minutes) from Real Madrid Vinicius Junior increased shortly before the break (45th + 3).
The only downer for the coach’s team Carlo Ancelotti: Offensive ace Raphinha from FC Barcelona had to leave shortly before halftime. After the 1-1 draw against Morocco at the start, Brazil is now at the top of Group C and is on course for the knockout round. Haiti remains without a win in the second game for the team, which is playing for the first time since 1974 WM gets involved, the tournament is over after the group phase.
That’s how the game went
At first, the Brazilians found it difficult to create chances against the outsiders, who appeared robust and defended with a five-man chain. The hard-working Raphinha was offside both in the supposed 1-0, which rightly wasn’t given, and in another occasion.

Cunha, formerly at RB Leipzig, Hertha BSC and now at Manchester Unitedbut was allowed to cheer twice. On his first goal, he was lucky that Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide blocked a shot from Vinícius Júnior and blocked the ball from a duel over the line. When the score was 2-0, the 27-year-old hit the ball unstoppably into the left corner.
How great the pressure was on the Brazilians after the poor start against Morocco could also be seen in how euphorically they celebrated their goals: not only the field players, but also all the reserve players came rushing. But little by little, the “Seleção” turned their burden into pleasure again.
Shortly before the half-time whistle, Vini Júnior basically made everything clear. The star of real Madridwho had already scored in the draw against the African champions, increased the score after a nice pass from Lucas Paqueta.
