FC St. Pauli will most likely lose Hauke Wahl to VfL Wolfsburg. According to consistent media reports, the two Bundesliga relegated teams have agreed on the exact transfer modalities for the experienced defender. According to the “Hamburger Abendblatt” the transfer fee is around 1.8 million euros, “Sky” assumes just over 2 million euros including bonus payments. Never before has St. Pauli received a higher transfer fee for a professional aged over 30.

The 32-year-old Wahl is to receive a contract in the Autostadt until 2029 with the option for another season. The medical check will be scheduled shortly. The Hamburg native moved from Holstein Kiel to FCSP on a free transfer in 2023 and played 102 games in which he scored five goals. Last September, Wahl extended his contract at Millerntor, which originally expired at the end of the season, for an unknown period of time; according to reports, the working paper is limited to 2028.
Most recently, the Wolves had already brought back Elvis Rexhbecaj and secured the services of Hertha captain Fabian Reese and Darmstadt center forward Fraser Hornby (to the transfer overview). HSV striker Robert Glatzel is expected to follow in the coming days; the transfer is considered certain – just like in the Wahl case. On the other hand, the sales of the stars around Kamil Grabara, Mohamed Amoura and Lovro Majer are expected to bring in a total of around 100 million euros.
