Rodriguez is a 16-year-old boy with a disability from Izegem. On Wednesday he went to eat something with a friend in Kortrijk. Afterwards, his friend’s parents dropped him off at the LAGO swimming pool so that he could take the bus home. But then things go wrong. Natalie Blondeel and Roeminia Blondeel, mother & sister of the victim: “Between the LAGO swimming pool and the Kortrijk station, he was attacked in the back by five people dressed completely in black and wearing a balaclava. They just came out of nowhere.”

Concussion

Rodriguez suffers several injuries to his head. “He didn’t dare to tell me at first. He had initially said that he had fallen, but it soon became clear that he had actually been beaten up. He was completely in shock when he was at home. He was completely confused and he also said strange things. Roeminia then took him to the emergency room. There were many bruises on his face and a mild concussion.”

Who helped Rodriguez?

The police are investigating the case. His family is now looking for an unknown man who took care of the boy. “We are looking for the man who helped Rodriguez. A man with a beard and a walking stick with a dragon on the head. We would like to thank him, because it might have been much worse if he had not intervened.”
