This is Luna Bredau’s second marriage. From 2020 to 2024 she was married to Henrik Thiel, which is why she also wore the name Thiel on the jersey.
The track and field athlete was already together with Jean Paul Bredau at the Olympic Games. The couple hit the headlines at the time because they were not allowed to compete together in the 4×400 meter mixed relay. Instead of Luna Bredau, Alica Schmidt was allowed to run, Germany was eliminated in the preliminary round. Jean Paul Bredau then complained in the ARD: “It won’t have been because of the form today. It’s more because of what happened before the relay. Some decisions were made that not everyone agreed to. The DLV said very clearly: the fastest four should run. The decision was made differently.”
He then apologized to the team and the coach.
