Bars and restaurants need a paid license to broadcast the World Cup publicly. Telekom and Sky have a joint offer for this – with costs that can vary.
Telekom and Sky are jointly offering the so-called GastroPass – for a one-time fee of 299 euros net, valid from June 1st to August 31st, 2026. According to Sky, the package includes all 104 games on MagentaTV as well as the Sky sports program for three months. For each additional screen there is an additional 49 euros net.
Who is the GastroPass valid for?
Public broadcasting in a restaurant is subject to different rules than private use at home. The Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry explains: A transfer is considered commercial if it is part of an economic activity.
The World Cup 2026 takes place in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Due to the time difference, some games will be played at nighttime times from a German perspective. For companies, this can have an impact on opening times and personnel planning.
