It didn’t take Harry Kane long to bring his form from FC Bayern’s season onto the pitch at the World Cup. His brace in the first group game against Croatia ultimately helped the English team to a confident 4-2 victory. But not everyone celebrated the super striker afterwards.
Ex-national player Dietmar Hamann expressed surprising doubts about Kane in the “RTE Sport” studio after the game, which sound quite surprising given his appearances in the Bayern jersey in recent years.
At Bayern “every center forward scores goals”
“He’s the captain and he’s there to score goals in the knockout phase,” said Hamann: “I want to see him do that against France and Brazil too. We don’t know yet whether he’s capable of doing that.”

Hamann would prefer other strikers than Kane
If Hamann has his way, the English superstar is not the best striker at the World Cup. “There are some strikers in the tournament that I would rather have than him,” he said, without naming specific names. At a certain point you need a high tempo in the game at the World Cup. “And he just doesn’t have that. His finishing skills are probably the best in the world, but can he also get into these positions against Germany, Brazil and France? I’m not so sure about that,” said Hamann, expressing doubts about the FC Bayern superstar’s successful World Cup.
