Alarming research: thousands of baby elephant seals die from bird flu on islands near Australia

New research shows that bird flu has killed thousands of baby elephant seals on remote Antarctic islands that belong to Australia. Murray Watt, Minister for the Environment, called the seal deaths “sobering” and warned that Australia must prepare for a possible spread of the virus to the mainland.
