FC Twente will face FC Voljvodina or Ferencváros in the preliminary round of the Europa League. The draw on Wednesday afternoon showed this. Later this afternoon the draw for the second preliminary round of the Conference League will take place, in which Ajax will be paired with an opponent.
FC Twente could still be linked to five possible opponents during the draw: Anderlecht, FC Midtjylland, Viktoria Plzen, the winner of FK Vojvodina – Ferencváros or the winner of Qarabag FK – Vestri.
During the draw, the winner of the match in the first qualifying round of the Europa League between FK Vojvodina and Ferencváros came out of the ball. On July 23, FC Twente will face one of these opponents at home. The return match follows a week later.
FK Vojvodina finished second in the Serbian league last season, behind the all-powerful Red Star Belgrade. Ferencváros is the most successful club from Hungary, but finished one point behind champions ETO FC Győr last year.
The match between FK Vojvodina and Ferencváros may also be interesting for Ajax. Ajax can draw the losses of that match. The draw for the second qualifying round of the Conference League starts at 2 p.m. The Amsterdammers can also compete against the winner of Vikingur – Stjarnan (a match from the first preliminary round), GAIS, Shelbourne FC or KF Dukagjini.
