The Provincial Executive of the province of Drenthe wants to invest 1.4 million euros in the further development of the Assen Safety Campus. The province reports this in a press release.

On the Assen Safety Campus, education, government and companies work together on innovative solutions aimed at safety and resilience. “Safety belongs to all of us. With the Assen Safety Campus we ensure that people and organizations are better prepared for risks and crises. At the same time, we strengthen the Drenthe economy and create new opportunities for students and companies in the Northern Netherlands,” said deputy Willemien Meeuwissen (VVD).

The educational institutions are watching the news with joy. “This investment is an important step for the further development of the Assen Safety Campus. By connecting education, research and practice even more closely, we can prepare students for the safety issues of the future.”

The investments will be used to create a research and expertise center in Assen. This is where knowledge is developed and learned about safety and resilience. There will also be a special space where students, professionals and social parties can practice together with crisis situations, such as disasters or cyber attacks.

The goal is for the safety campus to grow into a recognizable player at regional, national and European level and to increasingly serve as an example for other regions.
