There are long queues at the check-in desks at Brussels Airport on Monday morning. This is the result of a spontaneous strike that broke out at Aviapartner. Brussels Airport says that the strike is causing flight delays and advises travelers to get to the airport on time.
“It is true that a spontaneous strike broke out at handler Aviapartner last night between 3:30 and 4 am,” says Jeffrey Franssens, spokesperson for Brussels Airport. “The strike is noticeable at the check-in counters, where there are long queues, and at boarding. Travelers must take into account longer queues at check-in, which leads to flight delays. We currently do not have an overview of the number of delayed flights and the duration of the delays. We do advise passengers to get to the airport on time. Finally, we regret this strike.”
Two baggage handlers are active at Brussels Airport. In addition to Aviapartner, Alyzia also has a contract at the airport. Brussels Airlines, the largest airline at Zaventem, works together with Alyzia. So there is no hindrance there. TUI flights are handled by Aviapartner.
On the Brussels Airport website, travelers can see which baggage handler is handling their flight.
