US President Donald Trump has condemned Israel’s counterattack in Lebanon.

The attack near Beirut should not have taken place, “especially on a special day when we are so close to a peace agreement with Iran,” the Republican wrote on the Truth Social platform.

A little later, the Axios portal quoted Trump as saying about Israel’s actions: “It’s so bad – I couldn’t believe it. An hour before we were supposed to sign the agreement.” He went on to say of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “Why did Bibi have to launch a damn attack? I was so pissed off. I let him know that. He has absolutely no judgment.”

After attacks by the Lebanese Hezbollah militia on northern Israel, the Israeli Air Force again attacked targets in the area of the Lebanese capital Beirut on Sunday.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack to which the country responded was meaningless – no one was killed or injured.

At the same time, Trump called on all sides to exercise restraint. They are close to concluding an agreement with Iran that would bring peace to the region, including Lebanon. There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, the US President wrote, and there should also be no more attacks by other parties, including Hezbollah, against Israel.

After the Israeli attacks near Beirut, Iran questioned the possible agreement on a framework agreement with the USA. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards – the Islamic Republic’s elite military force – threatened Israel with counterattacks.

Trump had actually promised to sign a framework agreement this Sunday, when he himself celebrates his 80th birthday. Such an agreement would initially entail in-depth negotiations for a possible end to the war. On February 28th, the USA and Israel began the war against Iran. A ceasefire has been in effect since April. However, there were repeated attacks on each other.
