Two weeks ago the news came that the race in Hulste had been canceled, much to the dismay of parents Giovanni Cottenies and Matthias Demeyere. They decided to do everything they could to allow the race to go ahead: “The permits were in order and the police also received approval. If everything goes smoothly on the day itself, then you as an organization can only be satisfied,” says Giovanni.
