Cécile is a successful chef, she long ago left the town where her parents still run a restaurant for truck drivers. Her father’s heart attack forces her to return home and deal with her aging parents, a love of youth who, unlike her, has never left (Bouillon, adorable with blond streaks), the fact that the symbolic dish of the Parisian restaurant she is about to open is still not available and, last but not least, finding herself pregnant at forty.
«It’s not enough to leave things for things to leave us» was the conclusion reached by Bonnin, trained as a documentary filmmaker, in the short film of the same name (Leave for a day), winner of the César and at the origin of this first film which inaugurated the 2025 edition of the Cannes festival.
