Jobje Messchaert (77) and Ivan Hooijman (57) stand in amazement looking at their neighbor’s burned-out building on the Zuider Havendijk in Enkhuizen. Where just before flames were still burning through the blackened door and window frames, peace is now somewhat returning. “If I had not been awake, the neighbor would not have survived and we would all have suffered a lot of damage,” Jobje realizes.
