The German champions Alba Berlin is keeping up with the top of the table in the basketball Bundesliga.
In the fifth game within nine days, coach Israel Gonzalez’s team won against EWE Baskets Oldenburg 92:86 (51:48) and thus consolidated fourth place. For Alba it was the third win in a row. With four games to play, the gap to leaders Bonn is six points. Oldenburg remains in 14th place.
In the duel in Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, both teams initially presented themselves on an equal footing, neither team was able to pull away decisively. Only in the last quarter did the Berliners take control and put themselves on course for victory.
Alba’s best pitchers were Jaleen Smith with 19 and Oscar da Silva with 14 points. The outstanding man of the game was Oldenburg’s Max Heidegger, who, despite his 24 points, was unable to prevent the Baskets from being defeated.
