The Foo Fighters started in Oslo with rarities and an acoustic set – that can be deduced for Munich and Berlin. All highlights and the complete setlist at a glance.
Two stages, one acoustic set, rare song treasures and favorite hits: The Foo Fighters opened their European tour on June 10th in Norway. Next Wednesday, June 17th, they play in Munich at the Allianz Arena. There will be a stop at the Berlin Olympic Stadium on July 1st. What can fans already look forward to – and what’s still left as a surprise?
European tour start in Oslo
The “Take Cover Tour” is now also stopping off in Europe. The Unity Arena in Oslo was the Foo Fighters’ first stop. In addition to real premieres, songs could be heard that had not seen the light of the live stage for a long time. As usual, the opener was “All My Life”. After a collection of old and new songs – including “Learn To Fly” and “Of All People” – the band members swapped stages and instruments: Grohl and Co. moved on to the second stage in the center of the crowd for an acoustic set.
For the first time on this tour they played “Wheels”. An acoustic interpretation of “Marigold” surprised fans: they hadn’t played Grohl’s solo track live since 2010. A few more songs followed, which Grohl performed alone. With “Caught in the Echo” the rest of the band joined in again. For “Tap Dancing in a Minefield,” the former Nirvana drummer even briefly returned to the drums while Ilan Rubin took over the guitar. Afterwards, the Foo Fighters delighted the fans with favorite songs like “Best of You”. The encore crowned the song selection – and of course ended with “Everlong”.
The Foo Fighters concert in Sweden follows today, June 12th. On Wednesday the Allianz Arena can look forward to the iconic rockers. What can fans expect there? In any case, an acoustic set is to be expected. The classics from the Foo Fighters discography are certainly back in the bag. It is still unclear whether there will be one or two surprises. After today’s Swedish set it will be clear whether the tour’s setlist stays the same or varies from evening to evening. Either way: some unexpected diamonds made it back into the selection in Oslo. German concertgoers can also expect special moments. Tickets for Munich are available from 100 euros, in Berlin you can admire the band live from 82 euros.
