In Malta the Ligurians are rampant, 19-13 with four goals from Irving. Saturday at 9pm the match against the Spanish Barceloneta: the champions Ferencvaros beaten on penalties
All too easy, beyond the best wishes. In Malta, in the Champions League semi-final, Pro Recco overwhelms Olympiacos and on Saturday in the last act they will face Barceloneta to get their hands on the twelfth title in their history. “Overflowing” comments coach Sandro Campagna to the microphones of Sky Sport Arena. There is no match against the Greeks: 8-4 at the first interval with 88% shooting, 13-7 at the halfway point, then also an eight-goal difference (17-9 scored by Condemi at the start of the last quarter) which gives the idea of dominance. High pace and impeccable attack, so Sukno’s team puts the Piraeus team under, eliminating the feared midfielders Nikolaidis and Kakaris and repeatedly puncturing Zerdevas and Tzortzatos, the goalkeepers that Fatovic alternates without results. Incomprehensible refereeing: Franulovic and Schwartz also whistle the sighs, ruining the show.
the other challenge
—
In the first semi-final, extraordinarily exciting, Barceloneta started with momentum with a more fluid game (6-3) and showed off a steel defense (0 goals conceded out of 6 numerical inferiorities in the middle of the match), then reigning champion Ferencvaros rearranged their ideas, until the first lead 5’17” from the end, at 8-7. After Tahull’s 8-8, Fekete’s new Hungarian lead and finally with the man in plus the final 9-9 from a superb Velotto, top scorer with four goals. The Italian-Argentinian Echenique, another ex-Recco like the Neapolitan, also shines. And in the five-meter epilogue, the errors of Mandic (post) and Fekete (save by the frenzied Aguirre) are fatal. And to think that the Catalans have to do without the injured Vince Vigvari, the cup’s top scorer of former players, they will now find themselves facing Granados. The Spaniards – already winners of the championship – are chasing their second Champions League, after the one they won in 2014. And next season they will welcome Di Fulvio, towards his first experience abroad.
the swimming pool

Meanwhile, another piece of good news arrives: work has started in Recco on the renovation of the Punta Sant’Anna swimming pool, named after Antonio Ferro. They will end in spring 2028 and are the result of project financing (public-private partnership) at a cost of 7.5 million euros. The Liguria Region (3.3 million) and the Municipality (one million) contribute, while the remaining investment will be supported by private entities who will be entrusted with the management of the facility for 20 years: the promoters Pro Recco and MySport will be at the forefront of the public tender which will start shortly.
Semifinals: Barceloneta (Spa)-Ferencvaros (Ung) 13-11 on penalties (9-9), Pro Recco-Olympiacos (Gre) 19-13.
Saturday 13: final 3rd place Ferencvaros-Olympiacos (19), 1st place Barceloneta-Pro Recco (21).
