FC Schalke 04 continues to work diligently on the squad for the comeback season in the Bundesliga. The latest transfer comes from the German upper house.

On Thursday evening, the Royal Blues announced the transfer of attacker Junior Adamu. The offensive man comes to Gelsenkirchen from SC Freiburg and signs a contract with the Knappen until 2029.

“With Junior, we have a player who meets the requirements of our game idea. He works hard against the ball and offers his teammates passing points with deep, fast running routes. Junior is a team player who can show his strengths in several offensive positions and in different game systems,” says Schalke’s director of professional football Youri Mulder, describing the transfer.

As usual, nothing is officially known about the transfer modalities, but “Bild”, which reported on the transfer on Thursday morning, assumes a transfer fee of 800,000 euros plus bonuses.

Rest of planning depends on Dzeko?

Adamu played a total of 58 times in the Bundesliga for the sports club from Freiburg, but recently he has not played a major role and was therefore loaned to Celtic Glasgow in the winter. Adamu won the double with Celtic in a heart-stopping final at the end of last season.

“In each of our conversations it became clear to me why the coach and the sports management would like to have me in their team. The trust of those in charge and the clear game idea were ultimately the reasons for playing for this club with its enthusiastic fans,” said Junior Adamu, commenting on his move.

Adamu is now the first new addition to the offensive line. Further planning should also depend on Edin Dzeko’s decision. The Bosnian has not yet decided whether he will continue his career.
