“Gut Enug” by Kitschkrieg becomes a meme on TikTok: Americans listen to “Doobie Scoot Canoe” – and celebrate the German song as a hit of the summer.

Well, do you have it right now – this catchy tune? At least many users on social media are currently talking about a very special song that is going around in circles in their heads. And who is to blame? Kitsch war and co.

“DOOBIE SCOOT CANOEEEEEEEEE,” American Tiktokers sing on a continuous loop. Where does the canoe come from, you ask yourself. The nonsense text isn’t all that meaningless – on the contrary: quite profound and beautiful. The song “Gut Enug” by Kitschkrieg with Shirin David and Blumengarten has become a viral hit in the USA. The part in Blumengarten in particular, in which Rayan Djima sings “You’re good enough” in a sharp head voice, sticks in many people’s ears – and they can’t get rid of it.

Where does Doobie Scoot Canoe come from

What is clearly understandable in the German language is less easy for the Americans to decipher. The words flow into each other in the line, and so “You are good enough” becomes “Doobie Scoot Canoe”. They sing along diligently – the wrong lyrics have now become a hashtag and, as TikTok tends to do, quickly become an international meme.

Kitschkrieg seems to celebrate attention. To promote the song, they had already created a “You are good enough” visual, which can also be seen as a poster on the street. Now they are expanding the poster design with another variant: In one post, the “You are good enough” poster is juxtaposed with a second slide on which the inscription has been replaced with “Doobie Scoot Canoe”. They also post snippets from the music video with the wrong lyrics as subtitles.

New World Cup anthem?

Whatever words you want to sing along to, the catchy tune is definitely persistent. Content creators continue to post about their new favorite song “Doobie Scoot Canoe” and call it the song of the summer. Some even think the hit should become the new German World Cup anthem. The German national players first have to prove whether they are “good enough” in the group phase.
