“This is really scary.” Chaos at hundreds of hotels in Flanders: guests are being scammed en masse, but no one knows how

At least a thousand Flemish hotels are currently being hit by a sophisticated phishing campaign in which customers are being robbed of hundreds of euros. What makes it even more disturbing: for the time being, no one knows for sure how the criminals obtained the data of all those hotel guests. And that information is very accurate: name, price, date of stay, reservation number, everything is correct. “We receive hundreds of telephone calls and emails all day long,” says hotel owner Bart Boelens from Ostend.
