“To ensure the high level of safety in Dutch airspace, we continuously monitor the safety of our traffic handling. Where necessary, we take measures to ensure the safety of air traffic,” says Mark van Knippenberg, Chief Operations Officer of LVNL.
Only aircraft without suitable equipment may deviate from this fixed turn radius, provided this is reported in advance to air traffic control.
Approximately 600 flights per year
According to LVNL, consultations were held during the preparation of the measures with, among others, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Schiphol, airlines, municipalities and residents’ representatives.
According to LVNL, this involves approximately 600 flights per year, or two to six flights per night if the Polderbaan is used as a runway. The total number of flights will not increase.
