The artwork was designed by designer Ed Joosting Bunk. “It is a reference to the past, the greenhouses of the nurseries that used to be in this neighborhood,” he explains. “The artwork is based on the iconic greenhouse.”
Work on the artwork has been going on for a year, says Joosting Bunk. “It’s a shame, we had just completed the first phase. You don’t expect something like this to happen, and certainly not so quickly.”
Motorist fled
Police confirm that an accident happened at the roundabout around 1 a.m. on Monday morning. When officers arrived on the scene, the motorist had already left on foot. The owner was traced based on the license plate.
The police have tracked down the motorist and are investigating how the accident happened. Greenparks financial manager Henk Hoogmoed expects that the motorist’s insurance will reimburse the damage to the work of art.
