A heavy hailstorm caused havoc on Tuesday at mini campsite Hoeve de Bonte Kraai in Raamsdonk. Torn tents, broken windows and thirty centimeters of hail – camping guests speak of scenes like on a skiing holiday. “Everything was destroyed in fifteen minutes,” says owner Mary de Bont, while her grandson scoops the ice cream from the terrace. Several guests pack their things and go home. On Wednesday, code yellow again applied for thunder, hail and gusts of wind in Brabant.

Without a working visit to Disney World in 1974, Efteling would not have had a Fata Morgana. Designer Ton van de Ven and architect Jan Verhoeven were inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean in Florida. “This is a good ride, but never in my life will we build a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’,” Van de Ven thought. “We’ll make our own fairy tale.”
The attraction was initially going to be located on the island in the Ornamental Pond, but that plan was scrapped because visitors want “immediate action”. The Fata Morgana celebrates its fortieth anniversary this year.

Clothing bank Eindhoven will immediately stop taking in clothing. The warehouses are overflowing with 100,000 kilos of donations per year, three quarters of which are unusable. “We have no use for clothing from cheap Chinese web shops,” says Daphne Hobbelen between the bags of used items. There is also news about an old murder case. Years after the murder of Marja Nijholt from Enschede, witnesses have come forward who identify Sahal Y. as a possible perpetrator. Investigative collective Bureau Dupin reveals in a new podcast episode that several witnesses came to this conclusion independently of each other.
“All witnesses say they are afraid of SY, even though he is in custody,” said initiator Peter de Kock. Nijholt was found stabbed to death in a driveway in Oss on New Year’s Day 2013. The police have not yet commented on the findings.
