The police found a body in the Molenpas this afternoon. After investigation it became clear that it was indeed the missing swimmer.
The police report that it was a ‘fatal accident’. “We wish family and loved ones strength with this loss,” the police said.
According to the safety region, the missing person had indicated to acquaintances yesterday that he was going swimming in the Molenplas. Afterwards the swimmer did not return home. The alarm was soon raised and the fire brigade, police and a helicopter were deployed to look for the victim.
The search was difficult due to the strong current.
