With his decisive goal in the Bundesliga relegation, Laurin Curda not only played his way into the hearts of SC Paderborn supporters, but also into the focus of several clubs. According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, the 24-year-old right-footer, who impressed as a defensive all-rounder with consistent statistics at Pader, is being linked to Hamburger SV and 1. FC Köln after his strong year with Ostwestfalen.

Curda scored the decisive goal in the 100th minute in the second leg of the relegation match against VfL Wolfsburg, meaning Paderborn was promoted to the Bundesliga for the third time after 2014 and 2019. The Ludwigsburg native made a remarkable development last season: in 32 second division games he scored seven goals and seven assists, and he also impressed with a high amount of running, robustness and offensive moves down the right side. Within coach Ralf Kettemann’s team, Curda was one of the most noticeable players in Paderborn’s promotion season.
It comes as no surprise that the professional, who was trained in the youth ranks of Stuttgart and Hoffenheim, has now become the focus of other clubs. Last year, Curda had already been on the radar of several clubs in England, among others, with his consistent statistics and physical abilities. His profile has long made him interesting for Bundesliga clubs: Curda can be used as a right defender, right rail player and in a more offensive role on the right side. This versatility is attractive for both HSV and Cologne, especially since both clubs are looking for speed, intensity and flexibility on the flanks. For Curda himself, a move to a larger location would be the next career step – but in terms of sport, he would have to carefully consider where he could get long-term playing time.
A possible departure would be difficult for Paderborn. The SCP signed Curda on a free transfer from the then regional league team TSG Balingen in the summer of 2023 and initially gradually introduced him to the professional level. In April 2025, the club extended the contract with the former German U17 international “as an important factor in the squad”. The professional has long since ceased to be just a development player, but rather a top performer and identification figure.
His market value is currently estimated at 3 million euros; at the start of the 2025/26 season it was 800,000 euros. Given his age, his contractual situation – the length of the working paper is rumored to be 2027 – and the newly achieved Bundesliga membership, Paderborn has a strong negotiating position with Curda.
For HSV and Cologne, he would be a transfer with perspective, a clear development curve and a profile that fits flexibly into modern systems with a back three or four. Paderborn, in turn, can offer the 24-year-old first division football after promotion. In an emergency, the latter could become a decisive factor in the courting of Curda.
SC Paderborn: Münster’s ter Horst approaching
Meanwhile, the next newcomer to the Bundesliga promoted team is on the horizon for the 26/27 season. According to consistent reports, the transfer of right-back Jano ter Horst from second division relegated Münster is imminent. According to “Bild”, Paderborn is paying 300,000 euros for the 23-year-old Prussian homegrown product, which doubled its market value in the past season.
