Just fatigue due to the many matches played. Now the operation begins to confirm himself as king in London
Return to tennis: Operation Wimbledon begins. After the two days of clinical tests at San Raffaele in Milan, planned to investigate the causes of the physical crisis that cost him the unexpected elimination in the second round of Roland Garros, yesterday afternoon Sinner returned to Monte Carlo. And today, together with coach Vagnozzi, who last Sunday celebrated the promotion to Serie B of Ascoli, his hometown team, at the Country Club as a special fan, he will pick up the racket he has never touched since that unfortunate Thursday in Paris against Juan Manuel Cerundolo again at the Country Club and will start training again. A long break from the preparation already scheduled regardless of the investigations at the beginning of the week, and decided immediately after the knockout on Chatrier: the world no. 1 then realized that he needed rest before setting off again towards the long summer of American grass and concrete.
Tiredness
—
Yesterday around 12.30, having completed the scheduled exam cycle, Jannik left the San Raffaele through a secondary exit and got back in the car towards the Principality. On Monday evening, together with his girlfriend Laila, he had dinner with Professor Zangrillo, Chief Clinical Officer of the Milanese Research Institute, who followed the entire process during the sample’s stay in the Diamond Pavilion. Absolute confidentiality, obviously, on the results of the check up, but no critical issues or complications on a physical level would have emerged: the episode in Paris would only be part of a framework of fatigue resulting from the high number of matches played in just over two months, without the possibility of booster training, and aggravated by the environmental conditions made extreme by the great heat of those days in the city. From March 7, the first match in Indian Wells, to May 17, the final won in Rome, Sinner took to the field 29 times, practically every two and a half days, experiencing different temperatures and humidity levels between California, Florida, Monte Carlo, Spain and Italy: in the end, his body called him to account in the tournament he cared about most.
Goals

Nothing to worry about, therefore: the strongest tennis player in the world is an integral player who is also developing self-knowledge from a physical point of view and now, with serenity, he can go back to thinking about his return. Since there is no reason to change the program, the Red Fox will return to play an official match on June 29th at 2 pm Italian time on Wimbledon Central, because the opening of the London Slam on the main court is traditionally reserved for the reigning champion. It is not excluded, however, that to put some rhythm in his legs and arm after almost three weeks of intense training (the intention is to fly to England about ten days before the tournament), he decides to play, the previous Thursday, the classic Hurlingham exhibition, in the past often chosen by the big names (Nadal and Djokovic, for example) to adapt more quickly to the grass in an almost competitive context. The statistics show that 21 years have passed since the number one in the ranking had not won either of the two Slams of the first half of the season, the Australian Open and Roland Garros: it was 2005 and the player in question was called Roger Federer, defeated in the final by Safin and in the semi-final by Nadal. But Jannik can console himself with the cabal: that year the Master of Basel then won Wimbledon and the US Open, closing the season with a phantasmagoric balance of 81 victories and 4 defeats (the blue is currently 37-3). In any case, the three weeks of preparation before the Championships will be fundamental not only to arrive in ideal conditions on the sacred London lawns, but also to fill the energy tank in view of the American hard court season, always very physically demanding: the hat-trick in the Canada Open-Cincinnati-New York series is very demanding in terms of fatigue and recovery, due to heat and humidity (last year in Ohio Jannik suffered an illness in the final with Alcaraz, retiring in the first set). So Sinnerman will be needed.
