After Manchester City, FC Bayern has the most World Cup drivers this year. For President Herbert Hainer, one thing is clear: This shows how well the German record champions are positioned compared to the rest of the football world.
Those responsible at FC Bayern have several reasons to take a close look at the upcoming World Cup. One of them: With 17 players, the German record champions have the largest contingent of players in the final round after Manchester City (19).
“This proves that FC Bayern is an absolute top address in world football,” said FCB President Herbert Hainer to “Bild”.
Hainer sees a strong Bayern block as a prerequisite
Herbert Hainer is convinced that the success of the German national team depends on the Munich axis. “The national team always did well when it had a Bayern block. We saw that in 1974, 1990 and 2014,” he said about the years in which the DFB team ultimately won the title.
The World Cup trophy is also the big goal this year, and also Hainer’s wish. “First of all, I’m a football fan and a fan of the German national team. That’s why I want the German national team to play very well and get as far as possible – ideally to the final,” he said. A failure in the preliminary round like in 2018 and 2022 “cannot be the DFB’s claim”.
FC Bayern is hunting for a triple again
Naturally, the claim to the title is made every year on Säbener Straße. According to the president, this will not change in 2026/27.
“At FC Bayern we always have the goal of winning all the titles that are possible. Winning the Champions League is of course very, very difficult. We saw once again this season how close it was – we also deserved the final,” said Hainer, who added about the last CL season: “We only lost two games – against the two finalists. That shows what quality FC Bayern has and what is possible here.”
