There have been teacher protests, some of them violent, in Mexico City for days. Now the police are even finding explosive devices.
Police seized 59 explosive devices during teacher protests in Mexico City. Officers discovered the explosive devices on a bus carrying demonstrators. The city will host the opening game of the World Cup on Thursday.
The Interior Ministry announced the discovery. The State Secretary for Human Rights in the Interior Ministry, Arturo Medina, said: “We support peaceful demonstrations, but the population must not be endangered by the use of explosive devices during protests.”

Tent camp in the city center
Radical members of the teachers’ union CNTE have been demonstrating for days calling for the reversal of a controversial pension reform. They are blocking main roads in Mexico City and have set up a tent camp in the historic center of the capital. Last week there were already violent clashes between demonstrators and the police.
