Ruud van Nistelrooij only reported to the Dutch national team in the United States on Sunday. National coach Ronald Koeman gave him permission to attend an important family event. “These were nice family circumstances,” said Koeman, who did not want to say what it was. The players have known about it for months and according to the national coach it does not cause any problems.

In Berghem, more than three hundred people said goodbye to 47-year-old youth coach Bas van Lanen, who most likely died in a crime at the end of May. The funeral procession drove through the village and past the Berghem Sport football club, where Bas was a trainer. “The impact is great, not only at the association but throughout Berghem,” says chairman Danny van den Heuvel.

Councilor Rik Thijs sees it as part of the city’s green transition: “We want more families in the city center, then you need parks where people can play.” The park must become an oasis of peace between the concrete, with more than a hundred trees.

Filling the 500,000 liters of water took weeks – only five centimeters were added daily to prevent thermal cracks. The Dutch swimming association carefully checked whether the pool measures exactly 25 meters, because ‘not an inch shorter or longer’ is allowed for competitions. The swimming pool opens on July 3.
