Spectacular scene at the dress rehearsal
German World Cup opponent hits from 40 meters
June 8, 2026 – 3:05 p.mReading time: 2 minutes

At the 2026 World Cup, Ecuador will face, among others, Germany. In the last test before the tournament, the South Americans are not only celebrating a spectacular goal.
In six days, things will get serious for the German national team: The DFB team starts the World Cup against Curaçao in Houston, and a win is then a must. As a result, two much more difficult duels await. On the second matchday, Julian Nagelsmann’s team will face the Ivory Coast, and at the end of the group phase they will face Ecuador.
The defensively strong South Americans in particular are considered tricky opponents. In the continental World Cup qualification, the team left top nations such as Brazil and Uruguay behind. Only world champion Argentina collected more points. Ecuador also showed good form at the World Cup dress rehearsal.

Estupiñán hits like a dream
“El Tri” won 3-0 against outsiders Guatemala. Jordy Caicedo (19th minute) and Nilson Angulo (73rd) scored the first two goals. What was particularly special was the third goal of the evening from Pervis Estupiñán. Guatemala’s goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen failed to clear a deep pass shortly before his own penalty area. The ball landed at Estupiñán, who didn’t think twice from a half-left position of around 40 meters and lifted the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.
For the AC Milan defender it was the fifth goal in his 54th international match. Others in Ecuador’s national team are responsible for goals. The DFB team will have to watch out for Enner Valencia on June 26th. With 49 international goals, six of them in World Cup finals, the center forward is the most successful goalscorer in Ecuadorian history.
