4-year-old Luis was able to perform at the Soundfest festival together with Käärijä.
A 4-year-old living in Pirkkala Luisi Sunday’s festival experience took a real turn when he got to meet his idol face-to-face and perform for a thousand-strong audience. On Sunday, June 7, Luis performed at the Soundfest festival in Lahti together with Käärijä.
Luisi’s mother Vilma Calderón says that he bought festival tickets for Soundfest several months ago, because Sunday is an age-restricted day at the festival. Luis is a real Käärijä fan and the artist’s songs play at home every day.
– The idea was that we would just go and see the gig. Even yesterday morning, there was no information about what was going to happen, Vilma told Iltalehti by phone.

Of course, on the day of the festival, Luis was dressed appropriately in Käärijä’s green bolero, black pants and sunglasses. According to Vilma, Luisi’s dressing constantly has features of her favorite artist’s style, music videos or performance outfits.
– It’s a normal day for us that Luis is dressed as a Wrapper, and of course people came to praise Luis’ outfit at the festival, says Vilma.
– Before the gig, we went to the side of the stage to take a peek in case we had seen Käärijä by chance. A few photographers saw that Luis is wearing a bolero, and they tipped Käärijä about the little boy in a bolero shirt, Vilma continues.
To the surprise of both mother and son, Käärijä invited the duo backstage to meet the artist before their own gig.
– We took pictures together and talked. Then Käärijä asked if Luis would like to come Cha Cha Cha – on stage for the song. It didn’t take long to think about it, Vilma laughs.
Dance moves in possession
Luis has been to Käärijä’s gig a few times before, but he has never experienced anything like this before. At first, they watched the show normally from the audience, but after the Trafik song, they moved back to the backstage area meant for artists.
– Before Cha Cha Chat The wrapper came for the last time to tell Luis what was happening. They agreed that Luis will walk on stage first and Käärijä will come behind him, Vilma says.
– But not even Käärija could have guessed what kind of show there will be!

Vilma says that she was very nervous about the stage performance for her son, but Luis himself was not at all worried about the situation. Luis has memorized all the artist’s gestures, hand movements and dances from Käärijä’s music videos. These gestures were also seen on the Soundfest stage.
– Luishan said that this was his first gig!
– Here at home, we have our own Käärijä gig going on every day. The clothes change according to which song comes on, and he lives as a Wrapper every day, Vilma tells about Luis’s everyday life.

After Käärijä’s gig, Luis also got a taste of artist life. Other children wanted autographs and group photos with Luis, who appeared on stage.
– He couldn’t bring himself to give autographs, but he could take pictures together. We couldn’t get to the car when someone stopped and enjoyed the show.
Vilma is happy and delighted with the wonderful way Käärijä took 4-year-old Luis into consideration during the day.
– Grandma was also at the party, and Käärijä welcomed us all in a great way. The wrapper seemed like a very nice person, says Vilma.
Luisi’s favorite song is a joint song by Käärijä and Joost Klein Traffic. According to Vilma, the song can be listened to for several hours a day while Luis builds car queues and performs for his parents. Vilma herself admits that sometimes the songs played from class to class can bore adults, but despite this, they follow Luisi’s fandom with joy.
– Nowadays, he does want to listen to other songs and it’s nice when Käärijä often releases new music. I’d love to listen to and show Luis new songs myself, and we’ll watch music videos together, Vilma concludes.
