Fire at at least 2 companies
There is a site on the Hillegommerdijk with several companies on it. In any case, there was a fire at construction company S. Tebbens and a garage.
The fire has not yet spread to the adjacent Global Garden garden center. According to employee Jan, who spoke to our reporter on site, the fire brigade has been busy keeping the warehouses wet to prevent the fire from spreading.
The extent of the damage is not yet known. Photos do show that the roof of one of the companies has partly collapsed.
People fled from fire
Several people were present on the property when the fire broke out. Employees were wide-eyed this evening looking at the black plumes and the collapsed buildings.
“We suddenly saw smoke, and then that explosion followed, so we knew it came from that side. Of course you don’t know what exactly will explode and what could happen afterwards,” says Jan from the garden center. He is shocked. “Not only me, but also the customers who were inside. We heard a big loud bang and immediately ran outside.”
