At just 17 years old, Djylian N’Guessan played five games for French second division club AS Saint-Étienne in 2025/26. The youngster even scored his first professional goal in the cup and the attacker has been a regular in the French youth teams for years. Eintracht Frankfurt obviously didn’t miss this.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Eintracht Frankfurt has their eye on Djylian N’Guessan from AS Saint-Étienne. Accordingly, discussions are currently taking place to explore the framework conditions for a possible commitment.
Although Romano leaves out any specific details, it is obvious that Saint-Étienne will be reluctant to give away its own production and will not sell it cheaply.
It remains to be seen whether N’Guessan has the talent to really assert himself in the Bundesliga. However, the words that Eirik Horneland, his former coach at ASSE, chose in 2025 are deeply insightful: “He is a fantastic player and football seems to be in his blood. He is a very reserved boy, but ice-cold in the penalty area, with excellent ball control and excellent finishing,” said the Norwegian, who had to vacate his post at the beginning of 2026.
Eintracht Frankfurt is a good place for French talent
Midfielder Pierre Ekwah, now on loan to Watford FC, explained in the summer of 2025, shortly after signing for Saint-Étienne: “I didn’t know his age when he came to train with the team. And when I found out… wow! I was surprised.”
In Frankfurt they have proven more than once in the past that they have a good nose for the French market and can also offer the talent the necessary environment for development. So there would definitely be arguments for a deal. It remains to be seen how N’Guessan and his representatives assess the situation.
