Dennis Hendriks has won the second edition of the Drenthe Song Contest: Pop in ‘t Plat. The former drummer of Mooi Wark triumphed with his song Never Give Up.
“I participated in the Drèents Liedtiesfestival, when we came second. Last year we also came second. I thought: three times is a charm,” Hendriks said beforehand. So his expectation came true.
As the winner, Hendriks receives a trophy and 1,000 euros in prize money. Together with his band he competed against nine musical competitors tonight. All artists performed in the atrium of RTV Drenthe with brand new songs in Drenthe.
Pop in ‘t Plat was organized for the second time this year by RTV Drenthe and the Huus van de Taol, with support from the Province of Drenthe. Last year the De Roo brothers won with their song Olde Jetta. The music festival is the successor to the Drèents Liedtiesfestival.
