Sensation finalist Maja Chwalinska reaches for the title in the final of the French Open. The 24-year-old Pole goes into Saturday’s duel against number eight seeded Russian Mirra Andrejewa (19) as a blatant outsider.
Chwalinska was ranked 114th in the world. only fought for a starting place in the main field of the clay court classic through qualification and caused a sensation there with strong performances. For her and her final opponent Andrejewa, it is the first Grand Slam final of their careers. One of the two will celebrate its premiere this Saturday and will win its first major title.

Before the match – Andreeva needed just 76 minutes to win against Kostyuk. The world number eight is the first player born after 2005 to reach a Grand Slam final; no one among men has ever achieved this feat. “I’m still very nervous but very happy with the way I played today,” said the Russian.
